My Approach to Private Tuition

I am a mentor as much as a tutor. I not only ensure that the student is at the top of their game academically, but also that they have the encouragement and confidence required to help them reach their goals.

I believe the aim of all good tutoring is self-sufficiency on the part of the student, and all my work is directed to this end. There is no greater satisfaction than watching a student take over as they near their exams. To get to this point I make sure that the student understands the work required to reach their goals, so that they feel that they are in charge of their own learning. I also show them how to learn, so that they understand not only what to improve but how they can improve it. Cracking this code leads to a self-motivated student who goes beyond what is expected of them.

Client Feedback

‘Could not have been more dedicated and instrumental in allowing our son to get in to Eton. He not only analysed the areas requiring more focus but also compiled a unique curriculum. Even more importantly he was a wonderful mentor encouraging a desire to learn by oneself. Highly recommended.’ (Parent of Eton Kings Scholarship student)

‘You were really instrumental in turning my son’s mind from CE to scholarship. You identified the gaps in his skill sets, and very effectively helped him learn how to order his thoughts, and plan coherent essays.’ (Mother of Winchester Scholar)

‘In January 2015 my son sat entrance exams for six schools and received offers from four of them including his first choice. I have no doubt that he would not have achieved this success without your help and support and we all owe you a huge debt of gratitude for your work.’ (Father of 11+ student)

‘You helped him gain a clear understanding of Maths and how to approach problems which is essential to good teaching.  You were also incredibly patient and gave our son the confidence he needed.’ (Mother of 11+ student)
