I always try to adapt my interventions to the needs and interests of the young people I am working with, incorporating their hobbies and strengths to the resources I design for them. I always aim to design interventions for young people which reflect their own aspirations and learning goals, to ensure they feel truly supported and able to set goals for themselves. I am responsive to when students are struggling and apply and adapt my interventions to best help them succeed. Having worked extensively with younger students I understand the need for positivity and patience in tutoring, particularly when preparing for exams, and I put an emphasis on developing positive and fun learning programs for learners. Having studied music and creative arts at university I try to include as many creative activities as possible, making learning interactive and fun.
Parental feedback is always a crucial part of my planning and delivery of tutoring as well. Parents play a crucial role in motivating and supporting their children’s learning but I understand learning methods and topics aren’t always easy to pick up! When required I offer advice and guidance to parents so they can continue to support their children outside of sessions.
I have worked with young people in a tutoring and mentoring capacity for a number of years. I have supported students from a variety of backgrounds to achieve in 7+, 11+, GCSEs and A-Levels. I have supported students in developing the practical skills as well as the confidence to achieve their learning goals. I have worked with students in a variety of education and informal settings in the UK and abroad.
In addition my substantial experience delivering one to one tuition I have delivered workshops for students and education staff covering topics including creative writing, behavior management and the university application process.
