My Passion & How I Inspire

I am an an enthusiastic, experienced and supportive bilingual French and History teacher. I have taught and tutored French language, literature, history and culture extensively at many levels, from undergraduate to graduate students, in a university setting to private tuition, and to very diverse groups of students. My pedagogical style is constructive, clear, and adaptable to a wide range of student backgrounds and needs.

I aim to make foreign-language learning, literature, culture and history accessible and compelling; to employ different types of sources to introduce students to different methods of reading and learning; to accommodate students with different learning styles; and finally, to develop my students’ independent analytical skills that they can transfer to other subjects and classes.

I take an active role in my students’ education, and have mentored students after my formal teaching duties have ended. This includes providing the necessary support in writing their theses, school entrance exams, and in their professional development. My aim is to guarantee my students’ success in exams, school and university entrance, and to work with my students to gain long-term confidence in communication and writing over the years ahead.

Elizabeth is an INCREDIBLE tutor. I would recommend her highly to anyone. Her knowledge of French is perfect, and exceedingly good at breaking down complicated grammatical concepts for relative newcomers to the language. She is incredibly well organized and fantastic at curating precisely the right content for the lessons. She is personable and engaging and is a phenomenal teacher. I would work with her again in a heartbeat! Zach G
