Subjects I teach
Spanish all levels
French up to A-level
I have been teaching Spanish and English in different context for the last ten years to students of very diverse nationalities and backgrounds. I currently prepare for GCSE, AS and A-Level in Spanish and French as well as teaching general Spanish, Spanish for business, DELE exam preparation and supervising university assignments. In general terms, my students in the UK and abroad have been mainly very mixed as some people have been more exposed to the language than others. In Italy, for instance, I taught university students and some of them had already spent time in Spain before enrolling on the course. A very similar situation happened when I worked in Russia where a high percentage of my tutees had a property in Spain whereas other students had never been in a Spain environment. I have never experienced any problems to deliver outstanding lessons as all my students felt they were capable of using the language taught. Therefore, the vast majority of my students continued learning with me for a year or longer on the following course. Furthermore, in terms of responding to individual needs I would always stay after lessons to clarify any doubts my tutees had as well as to recommend additional work or reading.
Bachelors degree (5 years) at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (1993-1998)
PGCE Spanish and French at Manchester Metropolitan University (2005-2006)
Masters degree in Applied Linguistics at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija (2012-2015, part-time).
My Approach to Private Tuition
I consider myself a very encouraging teacher who loves motivating students in and outside the classroom. Having studied psychology has also made me more aware of any difficulties that a learner has to face as well as the importance of the teacher as a supporting figure. Therefore, I have a good sense of humour, which is essential when you work with people as it is necessary to make them feel they are in a relax atmosphere where they can learn without being judged.
