My Passion & How I Inspire

Great tutors should be inspirational, efficient and thorough. I tailor my approach to suit the needs of each student, allowing them to explore their interests and helping them to address their weaknesses. I am passionate about my subjects and seek to instil in my students a  love of learning. I encourage them to be curious, to ask questions and to take responsibility for their education whilst giving them the support and the skills that they need to excel. My approach is all-encompassing and includes memory techniques and exam strategy alongside approaches to problem-solving and advice on increasing focus and productivity. These are the secrets to my own academic success and hold the key to unlocking a student's true potential.

My Experience

I have over 1 year's tutoring experience and have taught both in the UK and overseas working with 40 students between the ages of 6 and 18. I have helped students to prepare for GCSEs and A Levels and am familiar with a range of syllabuses and exam boards including AQA, Edexcel and OCR.

While a student in Oxford, I gave fortnightly tours of the Ashmolean Museum to student groups and worked as an interview host. In the process, I gained an unparalleled insight into the admissions process and have since helped 3 students prepare for Oxbridge admissions tests and interviews. I was delighted when two of them secured places.

In March 2012 I worked at a top bilingual school in Mexico, attended language schools in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Columbia and was a guest lecturer at the University of Queretaro where I taught students studying for undergraduate degrees in music.

I have tutored on several music courses and workshops run by The Sage Gateshead and have worked with students at Ardingly College as part of the award-winning Guildhall Big Band.

My Video Introduction

Fun fact

While backpacking through Nicaragua, I stayed with a family in a remote mountain village with no electricity or running water. We woke at five every morning to milk the cows and to make tortillas for the day ahead. I paid for my stay by teaching English to the family's four children!
