When tutoring I believe it is really important to understand each individuals needs, and the learning methods and lesson styles that are most effective for them. Therefore, I initially spend time determining the studentās goals, strengths and areas for improvement. I then adapt my lessons to these needs and adjust to ensure they are best met.
Although I am flexible, my lessons will always be well prepared. In lessons I create an open environment, so that the student feels free to ask questions and point out any areas of difficulty. I also aim to enthuse my students about the subject by setting subject content in a wider context. As we talk through each topic I ask the student questions and set written tasks to test their knowledge and understanding. At the end of the session I will always leave students with extra questions to complete, I like to check these in the next lesson to reinforce the students learning.
