I treat each studentās needs individually and set goals at the beginning, regularly reviewing them with the student. I see education comprising of fundamentally two things: knowledge and skills. Where knowledge needs to be gained, I emphasise the key learning points and review exam-type questions early on with the student. Where skills need to be gained, I adopt the āsee one, do oneā philosophy: I show the student how to perform the skill (e.g. how to do circle theorems) and gradually reduce my input so that the student confidently performs the skill for themselves.
Above all, I believe that learning can be fun, and I seek to build a rapport with students and engage them in their subject. At the same time, I am keen for students to master exam technique, so this is a prominent feature in my lessons from the outset.
I have had over 7 years of tutoring experience, starting from when I was sitting my own GCSEs. In this time, I have tutored around 100 students of all levels and abilities, who set out to achieve a variety of goals. This has ranged from primary school students who are preparing for 11+ level exams at schools such as City of London and Chigwell School, to university students studying medicine and biomedical sciences at top London universities ā and everything in between! The vast majority of my students have been for GCSE and A-Level Maths and Science with all major exam boards.
I have worked with students from all backgrounds, from top public schools such as Highgate School and Wellington College to inner-city London state schools. I have also taught pre-clinical and clinical medical students in semi-structured environments and achieved recognition from my medical school for this.
