All my feedback from personal tutors during my teaching experience has been based around my personable approach. I focus on building a relationship with my students as a primary aim as I believe that this is the most conducive element to a positive learning environment where the student can succeed. I opt for a 'coaching' approach to pedagogy which involves facilitating learning as opposed to simply telling my students the answers. I don't believe consolidated learning occurs in this way so I will try as much as possible to get my students to teach and explain concepts to me, shifting the focus of the lesson onto the student. I've also been told a have a good sense of humour! And like to keep lessons as fun and interactive as possible, breaking the lesson up into short, snappy tasks as opposed to one long task.
I'm a fully qualified secondary school MFL (French & Spanish) teacher. I've taught both of these languages up to GCSE level in classroom settings. I've also worked with small groups and individual students with one-on-one interventions. I've privately tutored both French and Spanish GCSE students in the past with all students making great progress! I'm happy to take assessment-based students and also those wanting to learn a new language!
Having worked for two years in secondary schools I have picked up lots of experience in various departments and now feel I'm adept at working with both EAL and both SEN students.
I've also worked in language schools teaching English as a Foreign Language from primary level right up to advanced adult learners for 8 years.
I've invigilated exams in schools and I've also led French and Spanish speaking, writing, reading and listening exams.
I'm currently tutoring an A level Business Studies student (Edexcel) with our main focus on essay writing technique and structure.
