I am a tutor and have been a lecturer for 10 years because I am passionate about working with students. I believe in a an individual approach to each student by ensuring that we have open communication and establishing exactly what you, the student, is wanting to achieve or improve.
My approach is to mentor and guide students through their subjects and assignments by building onto their strengths and identifying the gaps in their knowledge and skills in order to improve them. By doing this students build confidence in their own abilities, skills and knowledge.
I am a qualified Interior Designer with 10 years’ experience as an interior design lecturer through all stages of undergraduate interior design programmes. As a lecturer I mentored students through their assignments and projects in both small groups and on a one-to-one basis. I have lectured at both a private higher education institution (Inscape Education Group) and a University (University of Johannesburg) in a variety of subjects specific to interior design and art.
Throughout my career I have continued to practice as an interior designer with work experience in residential, hospitality and exhibition design. This continual real-world experience is extremely beneficial in my role as a tutor as it ensures that I stay current within the industry. My experience in both industry and education gives me insight into undergraduate programmes allowing me to identify their outcomes and in turn mentor students through their assignments and subjects with a guided and focused approach.
