My Passion & How I Inspire

My tutoring method is closely modeled on my experiences at Eton, which gives emphasis to independent thought & critical thinking rather than the ability to learn and regurgitate facts. I believe this is incredibly important as this distinction the most crucial differentiation between degree level History and school history. I am happy to tutor specifically for exams or otherwise, but my focus is always on giving the student the tools to engage with the work critically.

My Experience

I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with classroom teaching experience, who is genuinely passionate about History and its relevance today. I graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford in 2017 after having studied History. Between 2017-19, I worked at Eton College in the History Department and am now a private tutor.

At Eton, I was part of a 3 person team working with History Oxbridge applicants three times a week, advising on every step of the admissions process. This has included advice on personal statements, marking History Aptitude Tests, and carrying out mock-Oxbridge interviews for both the Eton students and applicants from other schools. In the year 2017/18, we received more Oxbridge offers than any other department in the school. I have also worked on the Eton Universities Summer School for the last four years running, teaching history and working as a tutor.

On top of my normal teaching commitments at Eton, I ran a weekly series of essay clinics for GCSE and Pre-U students, advising them on structure and content. I also worked closely with the History Oxbridge applicants, advising on every step of the admissions process. This has included advice on personal statements, marking History Aptitude Tests, and carrying out mock-Oxbridge interviews for both the Eton students and applicants from other schools. I even taught an Oxbridge application session about postmodernism & memes! Outside of the classroom, I have also tutored extensively for GCSEs, A-Levels and Pre-U across a wide range of subjects and ages.
