Pardis

My Passion & How I Inspire

Itā€™s very important to enjoy what youā€™re learning; if you can do that then I believe studying will be more of a fascination than a chore. Building on this, my approach is to stoke a curiosity in the student and show them the interesting side of each subject I tutor.

Offering a warm and informal atmosphere, the student and I will be able to talk through difficulties theyā€™re having with the course. Rather than simply offering up answers to questions I aim to guide the student along a thought process that leads to the answer.

Students learn differently from one another, and the strength of this type of tutoring is that it can help the student understand what type of learner they are. Our approach to tutoring will be tailored appropriately.

My Experience

I have undertaken student mentoring while at college alongside my studies. This involved helping my mentee with problems they were having with Maths and Psychology at AS level.

I have also informally tutored colleagues of mine with medical entry. This involved reading and revising personal statements, and preparing them for their medical interviews.

My Reviews

Pardis tutored me back in 2012 when I was offered a medical school interview. He had been successful in all his interviews and seemed to know what he was doing. He was a great tutor; he had done his research and knew what he was doing. At first we went through the most common interview questions that are asked, giving me feedback where my answers were weak and could be criticized by the interviewer. Then we went on to my body language and my general manner. In my opinion this was a very important and often overlooked area that I feel helped me make a good first impression towards the interviewers. I had too many bad habits that Pardis helped me become aware of and change - this awareness has carried over to general life too in a positive way. Towards the end of my tutoring we ran through several practice interviews at several difficulties to help me become comfortable with the experience. In these ways I feel he covered all the aspects that make one confident and proficient at interviews. Needless to say I passed my interview. I'm very grateful that Pardis was able to help me - I'm not sure if I would have performed as well as I did without him.

Fun fact

My name means ā€˜travellerā€™ but also ā€˜paradiseā€™ in Persian. Unfortunately, it is most commonly a girlā€™s name!
