My Passion & How I Inspire

I aim to find what my students are most passionate about in their work and what avenues really excite them. I help them to develop their own unique and personal voice within their work and encourage them to think about the wider applications of it professionally. There is no

formula to making great artwork just like there is no formula for the way that people learn. Itā€™s because of this that I teach in a very relaxed and open manner to get to understand my students and what works best for them and their educational needs.

I am a firm believer that the best way to learn is to genuinely enjoy the subject that you are studying and so my tutorial approach is to focus on the parts that students are naturally more excited by and then relating this back to parts where my students may be having difficulty. My lessons consist of a pre agreed lesson plan according to the students curriculum but also what my student feels like they need more support and guidance with.

I teach all areas of Illustration, Design and portfolio preparation for further/ higher education. I pride myself on engaging with and getting the most out of my students so that they can gain confidence and skill in their creative practice.

My Experience

I graduated from Westminster University with a first class honors

degree in illustration and visual communication and began to start working with a wide range of clients on a wide range of commissions whilst building up my professional portfolio.

During my professional practice I have worked on a vast scope of different projects for clients including; The Science Museum, Liberty

London, The Green Party, and Stroke. These have included final projects consisting of; animation, editorial illustration, branding, book cover

design, printed and web collateral, layout design, murals, portraiture, posters, 3D design amongst many others.

I won a prestigious D&AD New Blood award in 2015 for my award

winning project ā€˜Making the Most of Creative Strugglesā€™ in which I used my own practice as the subject and gained industry recognition and success by doing so.

I work as a freelance illustrator, designer, painter and animator and am very comfortable in teaching traditional image making techniques, digital illustration and the Adobe suite: including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Affects and Indesign. I have built up a great bank of knowledge and skill in painting, drawing, sculpture, layout design, moving image, video editing and various approaches to illustration, all of which I am

comfortable in teaching to others due to previous experience of practice and teaching students.

I teach and provide session support for the Charity Art Box which helps Artists with learning difficulties develop their creative and life skills to gain work and confidence. As a part of this role there is an immense amount of one to one support and working with the artists who attend. This is often done as an on going process with a particular individual and so allows time to understand the personal needs and interests of the individual to support and guide their work. As a result of this one to one support many of the the artists have gone on to sell work and boost their confidence as creative professionals.
