My Passion & How I Inspire

I believe it is my job to know the final target of each of my students and to help them reach those goals through a highly personalised and engaging approach. I have taught for a number of years now, so I have a wealth of experience to draw from and what it has also made me aware of is that students respond best when they feel the learning is geared towards them as an individual. This is one of the joys and benefits of private tuition. It is my role to identify strengths and weaknesses and provide tuition that builds confidence right up to the day of an exam.

I enjoy building a strong rapport with both the students and their parents, which is evident in the number of clients that I still tutor after several years.

My Experience

I have been tutoring since 2011, with jobs ranging from languages with early learners through to adult classes and undergraduates. Over that time, I have taught across a range of subjects but tend to specialise in languages (Spanish and French). I have also done several residential tutoring jobs abroad, which I thoroughly enjoyed on each occasion. Students that I have tutored have gained places at top schools, GCSE/A Level examinations and universities.

At the 11+ and Common Entrance level, I have successfully tutored students to gain access to Eton, Winchester, Westminster, St. Paul’s, Harrow, Rugby and Marlborough. I particularly enjoy residential or extended periods of tuition when I can get to know the student and strategise how best to teach them.

My Reviews

"Mark has tutored my daughter for approximately two years. He approaches each tutor session diligently, enthusiastically and he is very thorough. Equally important, he is a great teacher making Spanish very enjoyable and encouraging my daughter to love learning this language. Mark exhibits the qualities that are essential for a tutor who is strong in his / her subject matter.

Mark is also reliable and willing to provide extra sessions when they are requested."

"Mark was my tutor from year 9 to year 12. Before his tuition, I was struggling with Spanish and I was close to switching my subjects as I found it too challenging. However, Mark’s sessions were transformative. Not only did I become one of the best in my year in this subject, but I also began to find it enjoyable. With his help, I got an A* in GCSE Spanish and went to study Spanish as one of my AS-levels, receiving an A, the highest grade possible for that level. I would recommend Mark as a Spanish tutor, as his help was vital to my success at Spanish."

“Mark has helped my daughter prepare for both GCSE and A levels in Spanish and French. His support and encouragement in both languages have been absolutely superb and thanks to his thorough and patient teaching she achieved top marks. Mark is brilliant at embedding grammar whilst also having a real skill in developing confidence in speaking the language. He also has a detailed knowledge of literature and has provided excellent tuition in structuring essays and developing themes. My daughter really enjoyed working with him and found his support invaluable. I cannot recommend him more highly”. Cathy (parent), Richmond.

“Thank you Mark for helping Raphael improving further his command of English. Your help has proven very useful for our son, in particular in the context of his application to UK Universities. Raphael’s progress have been steady over time both in terms of spoken and written English”. Frederic (parent), Hammersmith.

"Mark tutored our children from 13+ scholarship to GCSE French. His manner and techniques are top notch and he always made sure that they achieved a level well above what is required for excellent results. He always encouraged our children to develop a very genuine interest in the French language. An outstanding tutor and mentor!" Eric (parent), St. John's Wood.

“He approaches each tutor session diligently, enthusiastically and he is very thorough. Equally important, he is a great teacher making Spanish very enjoyable and encouraging my daughter to love learning this language”. Janet (parent), Croydon.

Fun fact

I translated performance poet Kate Tempest’s poems into Spanish, then taught them to her for a gig in Mexico!
