My Passion & How I Inspire

As a tutor passionate about my subjectsĀ I understand the importance of identifying and efficiently tackling the specific needs, weaknesses and goals of an individual. I recognise that each student is unique in his or her approach to learning,Ā so I employ different teaching styles to cater for each student. I strive to make the learning process as enjoyable as possible by engaging the student through interactive and visual stimuli. I place equal importance on all aspects of languages, working comprehensively through grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, syntax and pronunciation.Ā I like to get to know my students so that I can find out what interests them and source teachingĀ materials that will maximise their progress and hopefully foster a curiosity of the subject at hand. I strongly believe that a personable and patient approach is the most effective to help students fulfil their potential.

I have first hand experience of sitting exams, so I can offer invaluable insight into exam technique and revision strategies. Through encouragement and support I aim to mitigateĀ the pressure that students can face that can inhibit their performance. Besides consolidating knowledge, I focus particularly onĀ building up self esteem and confidence as these are so integral to the success of a student.

My Reviews

ā€œLara was an excellent tutor for our daughter, boosting her confidence and improving her grammatical accuracy. She engaged with her and enthused her, helping her to gain an A grade in her French paper in her scholarship to her secondary school.ā€ (Mrs Sykes)

ā€œLara helped me get an A in my A2 paper, having scored a low C in my AS the previous year. She taught me to master exam technique and I walked into the exam for the first time in my life feeling prepared and capable of answering the essay questions well.ā€ (Julia)

"Ollie got an A* for his French!!!!Ā That is amazing - thank you for teaching him and inspiring him to work so hard."

Fun fact

Time spent living in France and Spain has meant thatĀ I have been confronted with being served horse meat and bull's ears at native friends' houses - neither of which I would recommend consuming!
