My Passion & How I Inspire

My priority as a tutor is to get to know the student as an individual in order to tailor the support to their needs. Communication is crucial to keep the student engaged and therefore it is important to have an objective for the lesson and to share this with the student. I aim to provide support for what my students do not understand in school and to stretch and challenge them to achieve their full potential. So often, students of foreign languages are not given enough time to practice their spoken language in school and I endeavour to encourage them to speak as much as possible. I have just lived in Spain for a year and previously spent six months in South America and consequently am passionate about Hispanic music, cinema and art. I hope to inspire my students to understand the culture of the language they are learning, I find if they can engage in this way they achieve more.

My Experience

I volunteered as an English teacher in a school in Argentina for 4 months.

I was a mentor to first year university students to help with the academic transition to university study.

While on my year abroad in Seville I took part in various language ‘tandems’, helping people to learn English while they helped me to learn Spanish.

I taught English full time in a month long English language summer camp for Spanish teenagers in Spain.
