My Passion & How I Inspire

Each student is unique, and requires individual care and attention to ensure academic success. My method of tutoring looks to understand a student’s strengths, as well as acknowledge areas that need extra work. Working through a problem together is often essential to kick-start a tutoring session, but I also think it is a valuable skill to deal with a problem autonomously. Typically, a tutoring session will be based around debate and explanation - e.g. ‘what do you think this poem/chapter/line is saying? Can you notice any interesting features?’ – and discuss this to come to a conclusion that is both clear and independently constructed. English is based around personal opinion and interpretation, and by using conversation and discussion to understand a topic; students will hopefully improve their confidence and belief in their abilities, which will in turn benefit the student come the exam period.

I also offer practical advice and preparatory sessions discussing exam preparation techniques, organization and study skills, as well as dissertation writing and research skills for those studying English Literature at university. 

My Experience

Six months tutoring in Israel (English grammar and conversational practise), mentoring and tutoring first years at University, and additional private experience in London.
