My Passion & How I Inspire

I have always loved the sciences, however oftentimes the teaching can end up being dry and can lose sight of the incredible things it is explaining. I think science is at its most alive when it is not dictated but argued, debated and discussed and I have found that this is not only more enjoyable, but helps one learn a topic better!

When approaching A levels and GCSE it is obviously important to have one eye closely on the syllabus and past papers to ensure everything is being covered and understand how the material is tested. However, for university interview preparation I have found it is important to let things flow freely, since this mirrors the experience you will find yourself in and allows you to get more comfortable with the situation.

I take great pleasure in teaching, and there is no better feeling when the proverbial penny drops and the student just gets it!

My Experience

Graduate level:

Tutored undergraduate Neuroscience module for a psychology student.

Medicine university application:

Tailored application help for a girl to study medicine at Oxford University. This involved personal statement advice, BMAT preparation and mock-interviews. She was from a school that traditionally did not have many successful medicine applicants, but we were successful!

GCSE Mathematics:

I had to ensure that I was up-to-date with the (then) current GCSE syllabus in order to tailor the lessons to the material the child was covering during school

Trombone tuition:

I also love my music and, while not academic tuition, music tuition has also been an enjoyable experience. It can be challenging at times, and is certainly a time in which good communication is crucial in order for the child to understand difficult concepts

My personal experience also includes three younger siblings, two of whom have applied successfully to university. This has given me continued exposure to GCSEs, A levels and the university application process over the last few years. Although I couldnt describe my siblings as the easiest to tutor
