My Passion & How I Inspire

I feel that it is important to build a relationship with students. Whilst it is of course important to know the content of the discipline, there is also a vital need to understand that every student is different, and will have different preferences when it comes to learning. It is this understanding that helps bring out the best in students, and allows them to receive the highest grades.

Law is known to be inaccessible and hard to understand, partly due to the terms that are used to construct it. Having served as a research assistant at two universities, whereby the research had international implications, I am able to take complex legal concepts and break them down into understandable terms for students.

My Experience

I served as Law Society President and was actively involved with the running of the Pro Bono Sub-Committee, which ran one of the programmes called ā€˜Street Lawā€™. This enabled members the opportunity to educate young people about law and governance. Members of the society attended schools in Colchester, teaching various aspects of law to students which was enjoyable yet memorable.

I also informally tutored at the University of Essex in Law during my time as a student.

As a sixth form student, I was actively involved in tutoring in Law, having been selected by the department as one of the top performers of the year group. I tutored a number of students alongside my own studies at that point. I also informally tutored a classmate in English Literature, who obtained an A in the A2 English Literature exam.
