My Passion & How I Inspire

My experience of being granted scholarships to study in three foreign countries demonstrates that learning can be an extremely exciting and rewarding process. In my opinion anyone can acquire knowledge and skills via effective, interesting and persistent learning. My own learning experience has enabled me to create and maintain students’ enthusiasm and curiosity to learn, explore and make progress. I am able to motivate and empower students to build up self-confidence and enjoy a creative and artistic way of learning, which is refreshing and innovative.

My Experience

I have been teaching Mandarin Chinese for over ten years in Espoo, Helsinki and London. My clients include Finnair, De Beers, New York City-based Ziff Brothers Investments, DKLM Solicitors, BDO LLP, Morgan Stanley, Head of China at Globe Policy Institute, Royal College of Art, Shalini Misra Interior & Architectural Design and a scion of Fiat founder et al. In addition to adults I teach children aged from 5 to 9 and adolescents as well as university students. I am familiar with Mandarin GCSE exam and HSK1-6 exams. I have successfully helped students prepare for their exams and achieve good results. I also deliver Mandarin lessons to commercial organisations, such as Sedex and Xanadu Consultancy. Furthermore I teach Chinese History and Culture to individuals to help them prepare for their business trips to China as well as potential business expansion in the Market of China. I taught a prestigious painter Chinese Calligraphy. I have won a wide range of English Language contests and the experience of successfully learning English has enabled me to create a unique, interesting, lively and systematic way of learning foreign languages. I utilise the method and learn Korean by myself. After seven months I reached an intermediate level in Korean listening, speaking, reading and writing. Similarly after one month self-studies of Japanese I reached an intermediate level of Spoken Japanese. As a result I started to teach Korean and Japanese recently. I can also teach English at various levels, in particular to foreign students pursuing their studies in the UK.

My Reviews

"Hong has been teaching my daughter Mandarin and makes it exciting and fun. My daughter is keen to practise what she has been taught and enjoys her lessons with Hong so much that she insisted on having an additional lesson every week!

The enthusiasm that Hong brings to her teaching and her ability to connect with and make the whole learning of a Mandarin a joy to my daughter makes her a very special teacher. "
