It’s important to find out what the student’s needs are. I think a helpful approach is to start with exam questions and work through them in a methodical way allowing plenty of time for the student to develop understanding of the requirements of the examination. Politics is a subject that requires an understanding and knowledge of the wider world to do well in, and I very much enjoy discussing politics and current affairs with students to help stimulate and encourage their interest in the topics studied.
In recent years I have been teaching Politics at an outstanding college of further education in West London. My experience is with the Edexcel board for whom I am also an Examiner in Government and Politics. I am particularly familiar with the Ideologies route at A2 level. I also have experience of A-Level History teaching as I successfully launched the subject from scratch at the college after a gap of some years.
