I believe that private tuition is about instilling confidence in students, so that they are able to properly engage with the subject and enjoy learning. While subject knowledge is important, I find that focusing on the way in which students express their ideas is the key to improving exam performance and ensuring that they are reaching their potential.
I am passionate about the subjects I teach and aim to build strong relationships with my tutees so that sessions are enjoyable and worthwhile. I strongly believe that (when taught well) my subjects are interesting and build skills and knowledge that is applicable beyond exams and school. From personal experience, I know that it can be difficult to engage with subjects in a school environment where teaching may not be as good as it could be, or where other students are disruptive. This is why I find that private tuition often completely changes a student’s attitude to the subject that they’re learning, giving them the enthusiasm they need to achieve the best possible results.

In 2010, I was on a school trip to Morocco when a volcano in Iceland erupted and closed much of European airspace. As a result, we ended up spending four days on a bus home, crossing two continents and four countries!
