My Passion & How I Inspire

Initially, I like to discover the student’s strengths and weaknesses. I usually approach this by going over past papers / questions to determine which areas need the most work. I find that this method allows the most efficient use of (often limited) time. Next, I feel it is important to determine the students preferred teaching style. I will spend time discussing this with the student to see what approach works best. When it comes to examinations such as the 11+, I strongly believe that familiarity is key. I want the student to be comfortable and relaxed when it comes to examination time. I aim to achieve this by covering lots of past exam material, so the student is confident in their ability to tackle the exam in front of them.

My Experience

I have been tutoring part time over the past 4 years along side my studies. Most of my experience includes preparing students for 11+ examinations. I have helped students gain places at top London independent schools including City of London School for Girls, Latymer Upper School, Highgate School, North London Collegiate School and Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School. I have also tutored Sciences and Maths at GCSE (OCR and Edexcel exam boards) and I have helped previously struggling students achieve A* grades. In addition, I have spent time teaching basic Maths, English and Science to 7-11 year olds at a Summer Camp in upstate New York. During my time at medical school, I have also been involved in running tutorials for the lower years, teaching anatomy and pharmacology.
