My approach to private tuition is very much the same as my thorough teaching within the classrooms of the four independent schools I have had the pleasure of working in: create very clear, tangible goals for each of my students with a dash of good Northern humour and kindness to truly bring their self-confidence and ambitions to the surface. I believe that my experience as an Internal Examiner for the schools I have worked for and my role as External Examiner for AQA and Edexcel make me a trustworthy teacher and role model for my students. They can rest assured that they are receiving the most up-to-date and detailed teaching in their lessons with me.
I am currently overseeing a one-year home-school programme for two children aged eight and twelve, with a particular focus on the 8+ and 12+ Entrance Examinations.
As Director of Studies at my last school, I always aim to recreate a formal learning environment injected with fun and self-belief. I introduced an intervention programme for Year 10-13 students who were failing to fulfil their academic potential, without compromising support and kindness.
I have served as governess to children aged eleven, fifteen and seventeen. Borderline C grades were eradicated. Intensive revision strategies were put in place for all three children in the lead up to 11+, GCSE and AS Level examinations.
I also have experience in leading interview preparation and composing personal statements for Oxbridge.
I acted as Senior Teacher, Key Stage Four, and member of the Senior Leadership Team at More House School for Girls. I was responsible for ensuring the highest quality of teaching for the girls in Years 10 and 11. I believe that a happy student, is a successful student and this ethos would be central to my work with your child.
I read English at Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge and am currently completing my Masters in English at KCL. I have taught in independent schools since 2006.

I've recently been gifted an old type-writer; I am tinkering away on this in my spare time. My aim is to continue writing my first novel in the hope that it's ancient keys will give me story-telling super-powers!
