At school, I was always passionate about English and History. I love details, so I enjoyed delving into the specifics of passages from literature, and historical events. I had really excellent teachers in these subjects, who would set me additional tasks. In terms of tutoring myself, I really enjoy watching a student develop, both in capability and confidence. I also love imparting some of my passion for a subject to a student. I inspire my students by showing them the breadth of the subjects I teach, and their application and usefulness in the real world.
I have been tutoring regularly for approximately two years, having taught over 200 hours of private tuition, with long- and short-term clients. I have principally taken on IB students in English and History, though I have also tutored other aspects of the IB syllabus, such as Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, and Law at undergraduate level. I have also completed a great deal of admissions work with Oxbridge applicants. Last year, I sat on the interview panel for St. John’s College, Oxford, and marked LNAT essays as part of the admissions process.
I received my IB Diploma at Marymount International School London, which I attended on scholarship for academic excellence. I obtained a maximum of 45/45 points. I went on to do an undergraduate degree in Law with German Law at Oxford, graduating with a 1st. I received the Sweet and Maxwell Prize for the highest performance in my first year examinations, and a scholarship for my distinction in Finals. I subsequently completed a Masters in Law at Oxford (BCL). I received a distinction, obtaining a prize for the highest performance in Principles of Civil Procedure.
I currently own a growing (excuse the pun) family of 8 houseplants, though I’m always looking for tips on how to care for them as I am far from green-fingered!
