My Passion & How I Inspire

In short, my tutoring style combines being fun and friendly with being disciplined and effective in my approach. Tutoring does not need to be boring, but it does need be successful.

Personally, I believe that the most successful tutors are those who build personal relationships with their students. Taking the time to gauge the characteristics of your student, assessing their strengths and weaknesses and their likes and dislikes means that you can tailor the learning style to that specific student. Some students might find re-writing facts over and over again the best way to learn, whilst others might find that problem questions are the best way to revise. Regardless of what subject you are tutoring, knowing your student and how to help them succeed is paramount. I have completed enough exams, essays and dissertations in my time to know that the learning approach is the key to academic success.

My Experience

As a sixth form student, I participated in a programme called "Your Morning Read" which is a programme for year 7 to year 9 students designed to better their reading age. Whilst at sixth form, I also helped with the after school drama club which was a supplement class for GCSE drama students.

At university, I was a member of the Pro Bono Committee and helped with one of the programmes called Street Law. Street Law is an organisation that educates young people about law and governance. Through this programme the Committee attended primary schools in Leicester to teach aspects of law and governance in a way that was fun and engaging.

I also have two (very boisterous) younger brothers, one of whom has recently completed his GCSE's, who I often help with their school work.
