My Passion & How I Inspire

When first meeting a student, it is important to ascertain their specific goals and to then work towards them together, whether that is opening the door to a new job, structuring a dissertation effectively or simply trying to get to grips with the scary thought of taking the 11+.

When tutoring I try to inspire a love for the subject in my students, because academic enjoyment makes long-term learning much easier and ultimately more successful. Accompanied with passion for the subject I focus on teaching essay-writing skills, effective CV techniques and correcting common mistakes to ensure success. I also place importance on teaching each student uniquely, as everyone learns differently; what works for one student may frustrate or bemuse another. I always adapt my teaching methods to suit each individual student.

Having been through the stress of exam, essay and dissertation time myself, I use my understanding of the pressure of academic work to not only help students overcome their particular problem areas, but also provide friendly and fun lessons that are enjoyable rather than a burden. I also use my experience in the world of journalism, PR and copywriting to ensure that dissertations, CVs and proposals are properly structured, clear and well-written.
