    My Experience

    I have had twenty years of tutoring whether within a university setting or delivering private tuition. The universities I have taught at are Kings College for three years as a specialist, Birkbeck College as a specialist, Thames Valley for two years as a specialist, SOAS for a year and ongoing as an examiner and currently I teach a specialist input at Southbank University within the psychology department.

    My range tuition extends from teaching and supporting postgraduate students to delivering a class once a week to marginalised young people who are studying for an English GCSE.

    I am also a qualified trainer and deliver training across the social care and health spectrum on a variety of themes ranging from the psychology of gang members, working to deliver “mental health treatment,” motivational interviewing and “psychologically informed environments.”

    I am a qualified psychotherapist with a specialism in “addictions” or “self-medication” and have worked extensively with people who have alcohol and substance use issues for twenty years with an expertise in emotional recovery.

    My Passion And How I Inspire

    I am a qualified therapist whilst also trained as a community education specialist with a number of years of practice. Previously I have been asked to provide a specialist input in a number of London Universities as an expert in the field. The therapeutic learning which I have undertaken informs my teaching as I draw upon a person centred approach to learning, building on the students strengths. The aim is to build their confidence and self-esteem and to work with them to understand the areas they are studying so they can apply the knowledge. By building the “scaffolding” I help them to generate their own momentum.
