I firmly believe that individuals possess such a multitude of talents that, however well meaning, a wholesale approach to tuition fails to appreciate the extraordinary difference between students. Some people are conceptually brilliant but need a helping hand expressing themselves; others are wonderful writers that are perhaps less talented at figuring out what to write. Through careful, sympathetic conversation, it is my job as tutor to work out who my student is, where there talents lie, and formulate my approach accordingly.
Every student Iāve worked with in the past, at every level, has had some incredible talent that sometimes required teasing out. My approach requires that I help my students realise this untapped potential.
My love of literature has taken me places both fictitious and professional I never imagined it could. Currently employed as a full-time literary scout for one of Londonās foremost agencies, narrative and storytelling are a permanent fixture of my life.
I believe that through understanding and sympathetic tuition, this passion can be shared with any willing student. In the past, I have assisted with undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, A Level English Language coursework, and GCSE English exam preparation. I am furthermore proud to state that each of my students has ultimately received a top grade. Students of mine have either been enrolled at or been accepted onto courses at some of the UKās most prestigious universities, including UCL, St Andrewās, Queen Mary, Edinburgh and even Chelsea School of Art and Design. I myself hold a Masters degree from the University of St Andrews in Social Anthropology, receiving a Distinction classification overall.
Familiar with both Edexcel and AQA exam boards and marking criteria, I am also able to assist with UCAS applications, proposals and other forms of professional writing. I work closely with a number of senior editors in my capacity as a scout, and regularly employ a set of attributes directly transferrable to such types of writing in my professional life.
Whether you need a helping hand boosting your grades or are keen to have a second editorial opinion on your work, I am confident of my ability to assist and would love to do so.
I look forward to hearing from you!
