My Experience
I am a practising artist based in London and make work with drawing, installation and performance. I exhibit internationally and am passionate about sharing my experience of art making and exhibiting with the next generation of artists.
I have substantial experience teaching BA Fine Art at an undergraduate level in one of the world's top art schools, Central Saint Martins. I teach students across a range of disciplines, from drawing and painting to art writing, sculpture, performance and video. As the Course Leader for the BA Fine Art Study Abroad programme, I have taught students from top international universities including UCLA; Carnegie Mellon; San Francisco Art Institute; Bard; Parsons Paris; Yale; Yale NUS, Singapore; and FAAP, SĂŁo Paulo. I have helped these students to develop their own independent art practices in order to prepare for their Degree Shows and for future Masters level study. Students have gone on to study at MA programmes including Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Art & Design, University of the Arts London; Goldsmiths; Yale; School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and the University of Edinburgh.
I started teaching in 2008 as a Visiting Lecturer at the London College of Fashion, where I helped to develop and run a visual literacy pedagogic research project. In addition to teaching, I was also previously an Associate Director at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery where I curated exhibitions and acted as artist liaison for the gallery. I utilise this and other gallery experience to organise gallery tours and talks with gallery directors and curators for my students, in order to open up and discuss the rich variety of spaces and practices open to them.
My Qualifications
I studied MFA Art Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London (2008-10), and BFA Fine Art at the Ruskin, University of Oxford (2003-6).
I was recently awarded the Barbican Arts Group Trust Award (2018). I have also been awarded various international artist residencies in Latin America, the United States, Portugal, Iceland and Senegal.
