I encourage my students to try to grasp the core of the subject, its particular questioning ‘mood’. Every subject views the world from a particular perspective.
Once you begin to understand that perspective, it becomes much easier to work fluently, to understand the sort of things you should be asking and answering.
This requires a very personal approach, and consequently I tailor my approach for every student.
I place a particular emphasis on research skills – such as drawing out the full content of a text, be it a novel or an essay – and on writing technique.
