Explaining your ideas to someone in a clear way is a hugely helpful first step before putting them on the page. So I start by discussing your project and asking you questions to help you clarify what it is you want to say. Then we can break the writing down into manageable chunks and find a structure and style that works for you. I can help you to hone your writing by suggesting edits and being a pair of fresh eyes to read your work in a constructive way and support you to create your best work.
I have worked as a tutor for several years, helping clients to develop their writing skills and express themselves confidently on the page.
I got a 1st in English from Sussex University so can offer excellent support with planning and writing essays and dissertations at undergrad and MA level. I am comfortable working with any subject - my expertise lies in helping you to organise your thinking and articulate your ideas clearly.
I can also offer support with a whole range of creative writing projects, from novels to poetry, journalism or writing for stage or screen.
I've worked in script development at the BBC so have done lots of script reading and been in writers rooms with some top level talent like Abi Morgan (The Split, The Iron Lady) and Sam Vincent and Jon Brackley (Humans).
As a theatre director I've worked with many new and experienced writers, including as assistant director on plays by Jez Butterworth (The Ferryman, Jerusalem) and Richard Bean (One Man Two Guvnors).
