While I was working on my PhD at Princeton, I taught my own intermediate Latin class to second year undergraduates, and also assisted with lecture courses on Ancient History. On returning to the UK, I worked at the Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton, followed by Highgate School in north London, where I taught Latin to all ages from 11-18, along with Ancient Greek, Ancient History, and Classical Civilisation from GCSE to A-level. I also helped to prepare numerous students across the humanities subjects for their Oxbridge applications and interviews. While I lived in the US, I also tutored Advanced Placement Latin (equivalent to A-level), and beginner’s Latin for an eleven year old.

At King Edward VI High School for Girls I gained all As at A-level, taking Latin, Greek, and English. From there I went to Oxford University to do a BA in Classics, where I finished with a 2:1 and went straight to Princeton University to begin my PhD. I completed my dissertation and graduated with my doctorate in 2014.
My Approach to Private Tuition
Since I taught my first class to undergraduates at Princeton, I have greatly enjoyed helping students explore what they love about Classics. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to find out what motivates and inspires the people I work with, and it’s a real privilege to build a rapport one on one and facilitate their learning. I tailor my approach to each student’s particular needs, taking into account their learning style, any problems or anxieties they might have with the subject, as well as what they enjoy or take an interest in. My aim is to equip learners with the skills, confidence and enthusiasm to carry on with their studies by themselves. I can offer a great depth and breadth of knowledge about the Classical world, several years of teaching experience, and a love of the subject which I hope will be infectious!
