My Passion & How I Inspire

I like to provide a comfortable and fun learning environment for students, helping them to feel in control of their learning and at ease in the lesson. I try to help them feel like they are doing lessons with a knowledgeable friend rather than a schoolteacher.

We use various learning tools from the traditional books to games and YouTube videos. I show students how to organise their time and workload, pointing them towards useful resources to help them to get the best out of their learning. We work at the students pace and together develop strategies that they can use in their current and future studies.

I know that some of the students who need help with the subjects I teach, find it really difficult or don't like it at all and that's completely ok! If the subject is difficult we'll go as slowly as we’re able to, looking at the material in different ways until we find the one that sticks. If they don't enjoy the subject, we'll use different learning activities to make it much more fun to learn.

As we do our lessons, I like to talk to students about their future plans and how the subject relates to real life so that they can see their current studies as part of a bigger picture. I give them all the information I wish I had had at their age! This insight then helps them to have a reason to do their best and a goal to work towards.

My Experience

My Reviews

"I cannot recommend Theodora enough, my daughter had lost all confidence in her abilities in the run up to her GCSE's. With Theodora's expert help and positive attitude she helped build a new confidence and genuine interest in learning in such a short space of time. She was very upbeat and energetic and this in turn rubbed off on my daughter. She is delighted with her results and so are we. Thank you for all your hard work, it's like a miracle has happened!" Katie

"Theodora was a lovely tutor for Ivy - she had a good knowledge of all three sciences at GCSE level (and I’m sure beyond!) and gave Ivy help and confidence in embedding the understanding, as well as the sheer mass of knowledge, that is required for triple sciences. Ivy [achieved A*s in Biology and Physics and] was very close to an A* in Chemistry too - so we are thrilled with her results and know Theodora played her role in helping Ivy achieve them. On a practical level, Theodora was always on time and very helpful the few times we need to rearrange a lesson." Harriet & Ivy

"My daughter found the Sciences amongst her most challenging subjects. Working with Theodora rapidly had a significant impact. The tuition sessions stimulated real interest and learning. Theodora compliments her technical skills with excellent personal rapport. Maia was delighted with her results – 3 A* for Sciences!" Nick & Maia
