Subjects I teach
University and UCAS Applications
I have assisted a number of students in London, during one-to-one sessions, in developing their portfolios for their undergraduate applications to universities such as Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion for BA (Hons) Fashion Design courses; I currently have a 100% success rate with my students all having received their first choice offers.
I have also lead full-day classroom sessions for Foundation Diploma students at Craven College (North Yorkshire), teaching draping, deconstruction and pattern-making through live demonstrations; with each class finishing in a university style critique wherein each student would present and discuss their work with myself and a panel of tutors.

My Approach to Private Tuition
As a student of fashion design, I understand the importance of clear examples and real-life explanations of all stages of the design process; for example, research and illustration are not just taught by instruction but by demonstration. Likewise garment development techniques such as draping, toiling, pattern-cutting and deconstruction, which can often seem incredibly complicated, are taught live on the mannequin in a patient, engaging and easy to follow manner. Teaching in such a hands on way, I feel will allow you to quickly build your confidence in your own abilities to allow you to best continue to develop your own practise outside of my guidance, be it for any future, personal and university projects.
I believe developing a knowledge of classical and contemporary fashion history, as well as fine art history amongst other subjects such as photography and illustration is crucial to building a strong portfolio; Londons wealth of museums, libraries and galleries offers an unlimited potential for every student to find inspiration for their latest project. Whenever possible I will point you in the direction of such sources of inspiration to allow them to better understand, develop and discuss their work contextually.
Communication and advice isn’t just limited to tuition time; I will always try my best to answer and solve any questions, queries or problems related to your work in the quickest time possible, be it through calls, texts and Skype/FaceTime no matter the hour of the day.
Every student is different, so whether you need to complete a whole project, from research to the final garment, develop existing work or prepare your portfolio for interview (or sometimes all of these at once); each lesson will be personally tailored to best suit your current ability.
My video Introduction
Growing up in a small farming town in the north of England, I was taught how to drive a tractor before I learnt how to drive a car.
