Ross

My Passion & How I Inspire

My method involves extremely thorough coverage of the relevant specification or curriculum, bolstered by bespoke revision materials which are in line with the requirements of the widest possible variety of examining bodies, followed by extensive exam practice.

I try to instil a sense for thoroughness in all my students, but I also think it's important to enjoy lessons. As far as possible, I try to make my materials lively and interesting, and encourage a light tone and atmosphere in my lessons.

My Experience

I have prepared countless students for their GCSEs, in programmes ranging from weekly sessions to month-long one-on-one residential courses. I am comfortable tutoring almost any subject, particularly the following ones: English Literature, maths, sciences, French, German, history, geography, RS, philosophy, statistics and politics/economics.

I also tutor A-Levels, especially in English, French and History.

At present, my main work is in preparing students for application to Ivy League schools in the USA, an area that Iā€™ve specialized in for the last decade. I have been employed in long-term one-on-one preparation of 150+ students for the SAT, ACT, GRE and GMAT exams. Of these students, the overwhelming majority have made successful applications to the institution of their choice.

I also homeschool high school age students, of whom I have prepared around 20 for national exams. I teach a variety of exam boards and both double and single award syllabuses.

Over the past ten years, I have tutored 30 young ones through their 13+ exams. Together we have covered the core subjects (English, Maths and the sciences), and other key subjects including French, Spanish, Latin, art and IT. I have worked with even younger students on improving their language and maths skills and verbal and non-verbal reasoning. I really enjoy working with younger students and try my best to make sessions fun as well as packed with learning!

Over the past three years I have mentored five BA and MA theses of 10000+ words length. I also teach research skills, building on the training I received as part of my own Masterā€™s degree.

My Reviews

Ross did a stellar job with little time in preparing Tim for his Math SAT.

Fun fact

I used to be a commercials director. My high point was making an ad with The Hoff himself, David Hasselhoff!
