I aim to provide a solid knowledge of what I am teaching, whilst also paying attention to the needs of the individual. For younger learners I like to motivate them by testing their comprehension with games and problems.
I intend to make sure the individual is understanding what I am teaching by making regular pauses and ensuring they have understood the material either by asking them to summarize what has just been said, or doing a quick mini test.
Most importantly, I hope to show great passion for what I am teaching, and this will encourage the student to also be passionate in their learning. I will try to make the material as interesting as possible in order to achieve the best results. I would appreciate feedback from the student on how I can be of greater help, or on their preferences of teaching style. I am open to either following the student's needs ( help with their weekly homework), or planning the lessons myself using the curriculum.
I am a very patient person, who wants to make sure I am doing my job to the best of my ability.
I understand with the pressures of school today, many students experience stress, anxiety and low mood related to their studies. As a person who went through this myself, I hope I can help others overcome their obstacles and give them kind words of encouragement.
I am a language graduate from King's College London. I have a French and Portuguese degree and love sharing my knowledge with others. Since graduating I have been working as a full time private tutor. Languages have always been my biggest passion but I also have an interest for maths, literature and geography, all of which I took at A-level. I worked as a teaching assistant/ tutor for First Class Learning for two years. I had the privilege of helping younger children improve their English and Maths skills, through one to one tutoring. Their ages ranged from 5- 12 years, therefore I covered various levels of material. I also did work experience in my secondary school as a teaching assistant in the French department. During these two weeks I helped GCSE level students prepare for their oral French exams. I held practice speaking exams with them and made suggestions on how they could improve in order to achieve the highest level possible. I also recently ran some official GCSE Portuguese Oral exams in a school in Islington.
