My Passion & How I Inspire

I understand that everyone learns differently and a 'cookie cutter' approach to teaching is simply not effective. Not only this, some of the newer students can easily become nervous and uptight in lessons which is not conducive to effective learning. I know this from my own personal experience as a student in the past. Because of this I tailor all of my lessons to each individual student and I deliver my tuition in a relaxed, patent and light hearted manner. I am very easy going and I understand that if a student enjoys his/her lessons, then they will most likely develop as a musician much more quickly.

Due to my experience as a professional musician, I am able to bring knowledge and skills developed within this capacity to the teaching of my students.

I get a great amount of pleasure seeing a student progress and develop from being a complete beginner on the instrument, to a competent and confident player who continues to flourish week after week.

My Experience

I have taught the oboe to students of various ages and abilities as a private tutor for a period of 10 years.

I also have 3 years experience teaching music theory to students outside of school hours. The aim was to give 1 on 1 personal attention to students who were having trouble grasping specific music theory concepts that were being covered in their classes at school.

I am also the principle oboist within The Band Of The Scots Guards in London. I have travelled extensively around the world to places including Germany, Canada, Belgium, France and Cyprus performing at both military and civilian engagements.

Throughout my career as a professional musician I have had the privilege of performing at Trooping of the Colour (the Queen's annual birthday parade), and also at the Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
