My Experience

I have taught undergraduate students at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Such teaching involved facilitating seminar and group discussions, one on one tutoring on a weekly basis which covered theories and concepts in International Relations, and practice revision sessions to prepare my students for taking their summer term examinations.

Furthermore, I have assisted numerous students with their personal statements and applications to Master degree programmes at institutions such as the University of Cambridge and UCL. The students I assisted were successful with their applications.

Finally, I taught English as a foreign language on a volunteer basis to Sudanese refugees while I was based at the American University in Cairo, Egypt during the 2006-2007 academic year.

My Qualifications

I am a final year PhD student in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I was one of 28 recipients of LSEs full PhD scholarships and was also the recipient of LSEs Middle East Centre Scholarship.

Previously, I received an MSc in International Relations Theory from LSE and a BA in International Relations from American Universitys School of International Service in Washington, DC.

My Approach to Private Tuition

I tailor my tutoring to meet each clients unique needs and interests. I initiate contact with my clients in order to first, conduct an initial assessment and decide which activities or actions would benefit them the most during each session. For example, if they have requested tutoring in International Relations theories and concepts, I would initially develop a list of the materials and pedagogical approaches in advance which could help them to obtain a better understanding of such course content. In this vein, second, I prepare in advance for each session in order to make the best use of each clients time. Third, during each session, I ask each client if there are other activities or actions to be taken which they think will improve their learning experience and adjust the session accordingly. Finally, I follow up with each client to ensure they are satisfied with the process and their results.

Fun fact

Before pursuing an academic career in International Relations, I previously planned to enter the fine arts. Im a painter and reproduced Vincent Van Goghs work The Starry Night at the age of sixteen.
