My Passion & How I Inspire

A calm and patient approach.

To use and apply my psychological knowledge. This would involve putting myself into the tuteeā€™s position to be able to understand them, consider what they might be finding difficult, and consequently influence what strategies I could use. This is known as theory of mind.

My Experience

I have previously worked as a teaching assistant in a Year 2 class. This included helped students with English, Maths and Science. I also supported students with special needs such as Autism and behavioural difficulties.

At University, I worked as an Academic Support worker. This role included academically providing support services (such as help with lecture notes) to students at Oxford Brookes University on a variety of different courses.

I have also worked as Finnish schoolteacher for children aged three to nine years old). This involved organising activities for the group, familiarising children with Finnish culture and teaching them basic Finnish grammar skills.

My Qualifications

I went to the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle

A-level grades:

Psychology (A)

Chemistry (B)

French (B)

Art (B) at AS-level.

I was a Sixth Form Prefect and House Captain. I received a school prize for ā€˜all-round excellenceā€™ three times.

University - Undergraduate

I then went on to study BSc Psychology undergraduate course at Oxford Brookes University, achieving an upper second class honours (and first class in my dissertation).

During my studies, I was the president of the Oxford Brookes Squash Club for two years.

University - Postgraduate

I completed an MSc in Children and Young Peopleā€™s Mental Health and Psychological Practice at the University of Edinburgh.

Grade achieved: Merit (Distinction in my dissertation research project).

During my Masters at the University of Edinburgh, I was nominated for the ā€˜Inspiring Students Awardā€™ for organising a film event on ā€˜Childhood Adversity and Resilienceā€™, relevant to my course.
