My Passion & How I Inspire

My tuition approach is very flexible and shaped by the student's aspirations.

However, there are two main themes to my approach. Firstly, I provide exam-focused advice to improve confidence in the subject. In History, this often involves developing strong essay structure and a deep understanding of mark scheme requirements in order to allows students to access the top mark brackets. I remain closely focused on the student's syllabus, to prevent any surprises in the exam. This approach develops the student's understanding of the nature of historical enquiry whilst improving grades.

Secondly, I will always make sure that students understand why the material we are studying is interesting and relevant. Studying the past not only teaches us about the world we have inherited, but also helps us understand why humans act in the way they do. History provides a treasure trove of past human experiences that can shed light on who we are and how we think. Once students realise this, history becomes a truly fascinating subject.

My Experience

I have tutored several successful Oxbridge applicants. This has involved improving personal statements and interview technique, and practising entrance tests. These specific goals were achieved alongside developing a more rounded and developed understanding of history.

I currently have 40 hours' experience tutoring GCSE and A Level History.
