My biggest goal when it comes to my students is making them feel comfortable and at ease. I want them to trust that I have their best interests at heart and for us to foster a productive and mutually beneficial working relationship. I also try extremely hard to encourage my students and one of my biggest aims is to boost their confidence in their abilities; I believe that confidence can go a long way in helping a student achieve their goals.
I have no one approach as every student is unique and learns differently. This is why I really take the time to get to know my students to identify how they learn best and what methods will work for them. I personally tailor all of my lessons to the student and like to discuss a plan for the next lesson with the student so they feel informed in what my plans are and so we can work together to achieve their goals; the last thing I want to do is to become a dictator.
My focus is not orientated on grades but instead in getting the best result for my students, whatever that may be. For some students this to move up a grade level on a big exam; for others, it is to feel more assured and confident in their literacy skills or to have someone work through a piece of literature with them that they are having trouble understanding.
I like to take from my own experience of being a student and think of creative ways that could have helped me grasp things I struggled with at school. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses and my top aim is not to berate and dictate but to encourage, mentor and motivate.
I have over three years experience tutoring children of all ages English Literature and Language. I specialise in exam preparation and coaching and do my absolute best to achieve my studentās goals. Most of my experience is with children studying for their SATs, 11+ exams and with GCSE students, although Iāve also taught several students for A-Level exams.
I achieved a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen Mary University of London in 2015, I studied a joint honours degree of English Literature and Film Studies. I also achieved high grades at A-Level and GCSE from Lady Margaret School in southwest London.
I tried standup comedy for a while and in my spare time I like to make slow-motion videos of my cat running after treats.
