My Passion & How I Inspire

I am a friendly, approachable and patient tutor, committed to tailoring lessons to the specific requirements of each student in order to enable them to reach their full potential.

I believe that we learn at our best when we are excited about a subject, so I will always do my best to enthuse and to make sure a tutee understands the material at every step of the way.

I love to learn and am passionate about my subject: from the fundamentals of language and grammar, to explorations in creativity, and the more rigorous analytic disciplines that accompany higher study.

I feel that dialogue as well as instruction is important, so I encourage the active participation of pupils and the sharing of ideas to nurture confidence and individual thought. Its important that the students own interpretations are incorporated into the framework of a session, to develop their technique, creative imagination and analytical skills.

I always praise achievement and believe in encouraging pupils, whilst also maintaining an honest approach to feedback and communication (with both parents and students alike).

I aim to establish clear long-term goals that are within the pupil's power (rather than relative to others' success).Once these are clear, I focus on the short term, with the aimthat each new piece of work should be an improvement on the previous one.

I maintain a balance between focused study and review/overview, returning to the most basic elements of a subject as often as is necessary. I feel that private tuition is often most effective (in terms of seeing results in schoolwork) with consistent 'back to basics' reviews.

Above all, I believe tutoring should encourage both a productive and relaxed atmosphere, allowing a pupil the freedom of expression to refine their own ideas and interpretations.

I hope my sessions are instructive, fun and inspire confidence.

My Experience

When I was a child, I struggled to find a passion or enthusiasm for reading and myself received tuition. As such, I fully understand and empathise with the challenges and the pressures that face many young students. Oftentimes, as I found myself, it can be through the encouragement and passions of others, as well as with the magic of the right book, that ones potential is unlocked and unleashed. Receiving a national prize for my GCSE English Literature results gave me the confidence to continue to achieve, both at school, at Cambridge and beyond.

It is a joy to try and instil the same sense of passion and discipline in others. I have worked and continue to work with students of all academic levels, and from diverse academic backgrounds.Whilst principally based in London, I have also tutored internationally (as private tutor to European royal families and high-profile clients) and have a 100% success rate in 11+ and 13+ Independent and Common Entrance Exams to London's top independent schools and the countrys top boarding schools. All GCSE and A-Level students have achieved their desired (A/A*) grades (for exams on all exam boards), and all past students have been accepted into their universities of choice. I also write and invigilate mock exams for the 7+, 8+ and 11+.

A selection of schools which pupils have either attended or gone on to attend include: Bute House, Charterhouse School, Cheltenham Ladies College, City of London, Colet Court, Downe House, Dulwich College, Emmanuel, Eton, Eton Square, Francis Holland, Garden House, Godolphin and Latymer, Haberdashers Askes School for Girls, Harrodian, Henrietta Barnett, Hill House, JAGS, Lyce Franais, NLCS, Portland Place, South Hampstead Girls School, St. Marys Ascot, St.Pauls Boys, St Paul's Girls, Sussex House, University College School, Westminster, Wycombe Abbey.
