My Passion & How I Inspire

My personal experience of learning French as a foreign language has helped me to identify common, sometimes unavoidable obstacles that may arise among learners of foreign languages, and this has been both a useful and beneficial source in my own teaching. Moreover, my teaching experience of my native language- English- as a second language at International House London (Holborn) has helped me develop a practical way of accessing language teaching.

I have a relaxed attitude to tutoring and I believe that I can secure success through my aim to provide a solid grounding in the subject while paying close attention to the needs of the individual alongside building confidence in the subject area. I love and have a strong passion for the subjects I teach and look to inspire in my students the same inclination for these subjects.

My teaching strategy aims to complement the different abilities of each of my tutees: to identify the issues, which each individual faces, and to show them certain methods to help them logically solve these issues. My approach to tutoring each student is entirely different and I treat each student as an individual, adapting to their learning preferences and complementing their needs and expectations from a lesson. My strategy is to develop an understanding of each individualā€™s strengths, abilities and weaknesses in order that they benefit from a tutorial as fully as possible. The fact that I can speak French fluently allows me to engage my students in conversation on topics that are interesting to them. This helps to boost their confidence in their own speaking ability, which inevitably sets them in good stead for the oral component of their exams. Alongside this I tend to focus on exam technique and study skills so that my students feel fully capable and prepared for assessment rather than feel discouraged and develop a lack of interest in the subject. I am passionate about languages and see my future invested in academia and education.
