My Passion & How I Inspire

The primary reason behind my interest in tutoring stemmed from enjoying supporting others and transferring useful knowledge I have obtained during my education and working career.

I gain a satisfaction when my knowledge can be shared with those in need and have an impact on their future. I am a firm believer in exploring multiple methods when tackling problems given this allows the individual to find the most suitable method for themselves.

I believe students sometimes struggle to understand concepts as a result of not being interested in the subject. Therefore, it is a goal of mine to make topics relevant to the real world and ensure I make the subject fun in order to engage the studentā€™s mind.

My Experience

My expertise is in Economics. I have completed an undergraduate degree in this field and was a high performer during A-Level. In addition to Economics, I also teach Maths and History GCSE, of which I achieved the highest grades possible.

I have 4+ years tutoring experience working mainly with GCSE and A-level students and more recently 11+ students. My tutoring experience is predominantly from my time as a student in university and sixth form as well as weekend sessions. Of recent, I have provided tutoring classes to family friends, nephews and nieces who have been preparing for Year 6 SATs and GCSEā€™s. Subjects that were involved are Mathematics, Business, History and Sociology. My aim for students is to ensure they are familiar with the content assessed and demonstrate exam technique when answering questions.

A typical lesson will involve going through the difficult questions I have set the student prior to the lesson in order for them to gain confidence in answering these on their own. On top of this, it is essential my student familiarises themselves with exam technique to maximise marks. This is obtained through continuous practice questions. Subject content is also covered if a student is having difficulties understanding a concept. I tend to apply real life examples as this usually engages the student and is more likely to be of interest for learning.

I have learnt how patience is essential in tutoring as it sometimes takes explaining something numerous times in different ways for it to stick to an individual, highlighting how every student is different and you must tailor your approach to them.
