My Passion & How I Inspire

I have been passionate about Mathematics from a young age and love problem-solving through the use of mathematical skills. As a teacher, Mathematics is a particularly enjoyable subject to teach - as it encourages students to think deeply, but also provides lots of opportunities for success. I believe that many students who do not like Mathematics are under-confident or have been taught to think about Maths as a long list of rules that are difficult to remember(!), I enjoy encouraging my students to think of maths as purely a way of solving problems, explaining each step of every mathematical process carefully (including why it works!) and giving lots of opportunity for practice and consolidation, as well as ensuring students feel challenged to reach their very best.

My Experience

I am an highly qualified Mathematics teacher, skilled in teaching all year groups from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. I have worked as a teacher and middle leader for the past 6 years and am currently working as Deputy Head of Mathematics and Key Stage 5 co-ordinator at a Camden School. Prior to this I spent the two years following my graduation working as a learning support assistant at NLCS Jeju and a boys school in Fulham, and tutoring English, Maths, History and Art. I have completed both an undergraduate degree (History 2:1, University of Oxford) and masters degree (Educational Leadership - Merit, UCL) and am passionate about the importance of academic research - I would thus also be very interested in supporting degree level students with essay and dissertation writing.
