My Experience

I have been working as a full time professional science tutor with some of the top tutor agencies in London since September 2013. I have also previously tutored university level students since 2010. Since 2013 I have tutored just over 2500 hours. My extensive experience as a tutor has enabled me to become familiar with common pitfalls students struggle with.  I have experience in tutoring from age 5 up to University level. I work particularly well within the age range age 11-16. I have successfully helped many students with 13+ entrance examinations and GCSE/IGCSE examinations I am also familiar with Edexcel, OCR and AQA exam boards. I enjoy making a difference and I feel the key ingredient to tutoring is connecting with the student, something I am particularly good at.

My Approach to Private Tuition

My teaching style is very versatile and tailored to the individual. I have worked with many students and am naturally quite intuitive so I tend to take a holistic approach with my tutees. I would describe myself as a creative scientist who enjoys thinking outside of the box and bringing innovative ideas to my tutorial sessions. I encourage students to enjoy learning whether it means taking a more gentle approach or really stretching and challenging the student.

My approach to residential tuition is very similar to my regular tutoring style which is very student-centred. I enjoy making sessions interesting and stimulating the tutee. From my experience I feel the key to making any residential tuition successful is to be as organised as possible due to the short but intensive tuition takes place. I am quite thorough with my preparation. I often end up being much more than a tutor and I almost end up becoming “one of the family”. On several occasions I have even taught my students Indian dance routines as an extracurricular activity.
