As in England, the admissions process and academic requirements differ from school to school.
Broadly, though, entrance to Scottish independent schools follow a very similar pattern to the steps above.
Most schools are run by the Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS), who recommend applying for places in the autumn months of the previous year, at the very latest.
Assessments are generally held in the spring term and, like in England, the complexity and formali-ty of applications increase as the children applying get older.
