Chapter 1: An Introduction to School Fees

A number of factors must be considered when looking into school fees for independent schools in the UK:

• Is it a day school or a boarding school?
• Is it prep or secondary?
• Is it a Sixth Form college?

Boarding schools will be considerably more expensive than day schools, in order to cover living costs, while primary schools will be marginally cheaper than secondary schools as kids will spend less time there, especially in Nursery and Reception.

International schools will also be more expensive, due to the huge scope of subjects and levels they must offer.

Private schools in London are also known for being particularly pricey, as they must be paid alongside the high cost of living in the capital.

Between £5800-£8000 per term. New entrants to Sixth Form usually pay towards the £8000 mark for the best schools.
SECONDARY SCHOOL (Boarding)
Between £11000-£13000 per term.
INDEPENDENT SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Between £6000-£9500 per term.
